Yining Lin is a Cleveland-based Dramaturge and Theatre Educator. She specializes in AAPI Theatre, new play development, Theatre for Social Justice, and Chinese Theatre Adaptations.
Dr. Yining Lin has a solid background in AAPI theatre and new play development. Based in Cleveland, she recently worked as the Manager of Partnerships at Cleveland Play House, where she led key initiatives and developed programs for K-12 schools. She also worked with Baldwin-Wallace and Cleveland Play House to curate panels with practicing theatre artists and community members.
Yining earned her PhD from the University of Hawai’i, Mānoa, where she focused on Jingju adaptations of Western literature, showing her dedication to blending different cultural perspectives in theatre. As a dramaturge, she’s worked with well-known theatres like San Francisco Opera and Cleveland Play House, bringing her unique insights to productions like Madame Butterfly and The Great Leap.
She’s also involved in advocacy, currently serving as Interim Chapter Director for Make Us Visible Ohio, where she’s pushing for AAPI education legislation.
As a member of the Association of Asian Performance and the American Alliance for Theatre and Education, Yining continues to make an impact with her commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the arts.
